Education has begun!

Today I learned a lot. We spent most of the day talking about the various faulty approaches to Biblical interpretation. I had completed all of the required reading, but the differences were a bit muddy in my mind. Dr. House did a great job explaining the differences - giving us examples. After he lectured we broke up into groups to figure out several more examples. I was pleased that what had seemed quite confusing before was becoming clearer to me. I was feeling quite confident about the class until the prof told us that what we covered today was the easy stuff. sigh.

We also had a good discussion about several contemporary issues facing the church...the emergent church, the lobbying bills that congress is trying to pass, the history and possible future of the Christian university system in the United States, etc. It was challenging, energizing, sobering, and thought provoking. It has me excited about how my vocation and Christian life might be walked out in the future. I was challenged to do more reading on these and many other contemporary issues. It will be interesting to see how I can fit that into my life these days on top of studies and work...but how can I NOT fit it in?!
